ATI S.r.l. supports companies in the deletion and destruction of data, using various securemethods that comply with current regulations.

The management and deletion of sensitive data must take into account the business, regulatory, security and privacy context, as the type of data to be processed may vary in nature and level of confidentiality.

To ensure compliance with current regulations, such as the GDPR in Europe, we adopt secure and certified deletionmethods, which ensure the complete and irreversible deletion of information, in accordance with the highest standards of data protection.

Physical erasure

Punching of hard drives, with issuance of certification of destruction accompanied by photos or film of the activity performed.

Degaussing/demagnetisation applicable to conventional hard disks, with certification of successful destruction.

Destruction and safe disposal of paper documents and magnetic media (paper , magnetic disks, optical disks, CDs, DVDs, data cassettes, etc.).

The standard service includes collection and transport by authorised vehicles to the disposal centre and the secure destruction of all material containing sensitive data.
All operations can be supervised by the customer ‘s staff and a USB stick containing some short videos of the destruction operation will also be issued, in addition to the legal documentation.

Punching and Degaussing can be done either on site, throughout Italy, or at our laboratory.

Erasure with software

Software-based data deletion is a secure, traceable and regulatory compliant methodology, ideal for permanently deleting information from a wide range of IT devices, including:

Traditional Hard Disk Drives (HDD)
Solid state disk (SSD)
Computer desktop e laptop
Physical and virtual servers
Storage systems ( SAN, NAS, storage arrays)
Smartphone and tablet

This technique allows the data removal process to be adapted to the characteristics of the media and the operational context, guaranteeing maximum reliability and compliance with corporate and regulatory policies.

Types of software tools

The tools used for software deletion are divided into:

Certified tools
Solutions such as Certus Software comply with international standards (e.g. NIST 800-88, ISO/IEC 27040) and generate certified deletion reports, suitable for audits, compliance checks and legal documentation.
Non-certified tools
Can be used in unregulated or low-risk areas, but do not guarantee traceability or evidential value in the event of regulatory controls.

Technical note: In the case of SSD devices , standard overwrite techniques may not guarantee complete data erasure due to memory block management. It is therefore crucial to use certified SSD-specific tools that ensure irreversible data deletion.

When and how software deletion applies

Deletion can be carried out at different stages of the device ‘s life cycle and in flexible operating modes:
When

During use ( life cycle) – in case of user change or internal reallocation.
At end of life – when devices are decommissioned, returned to the lessor, resold or sent for reuse.

How:

On-site (at the customer ‘s premises) – to operate in environments with high confidentiality or security requirements.
On-center (at our premises) – with intervention managed entirely by ATI, in controlled and certified environments.
